About Us

We know a lot about ourselves, but you might not -- so feel free to read on and find out more than you ever cared to know!

Melissa was born near Chicago, and then raised in Chicago, Lincoln, Birmingham, San Diego, and Chicago again. She went to the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana twice, once for accounting and then again for law.  She practiced family law with a leading matrimonial firm in Chicago, then moved with Trevor to Santa Fe, where she currently works for the New Mexico Court of Appeals.  (She's the pretty one in all the pictures on this page.)

Trevor was born in Ames, Iowa, and grew up in various towns most people haven't heard of in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.  He attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, for undergrad and for his masters degree (akin to an MBA for nonprofit organizations), and moved to Champaign to attend law school.  He met Melissa at Illinois, and convinced her to move to Santa Fe with him in May; he currently works for a federal judge.

We are getting married in September 2012, and bought a Groupon for round-the-world airfare for our honeymoon -- hence the need for this blog!  We have some ideas on where to go and what to do, but we figured we'd be best off crowd-sourcing ideas, and we also wanted a fairly easy way to keep friends and family informed on our plans and whereabouts.

Since this blog is about travel, we should also tell you where we've been!  Both of us have traveled extensively throughout the United States.  Trevor has traveled to the Dominican Republic (twice), El Salvador, Costa Rica (twice), Nicaragua, and Colombia.  And he never got kidnapped!  He is particularly excited to see the world outside of the Americas.  Melissa -- quite the world traveler, by comparison -- spent a semester studying in Paris, and has visited Germany, England, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Ireland (i.e., "Europe").  She's also visited Costa Rica and a handful of places in the Caribbean, as well.  Both of us are pretty thrilled to have a chance to go anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere!

To help you get to know us, we're posting a few pictures on this page, too.  One of these pictures was taken in Costa Rica; can you tell which picture it is?
